More like "doh" with a silent a. We arrived after a sleepless 12 hour flight to a city where everything was closed. After hanging out in the airport, we finally were able to go to the souk. The souk was kind of interesting but underwhelming after having already been to Istanbul's Grand Bazaar. Ohh and it was HOT. Like an oven hot. And there was hardly anyone there. There is hardly anyone in Doha - a cab driver said it was because people were celebrating the end of Ramadan and had not returned. We breakfasted in a fancy restaurant with traditional Arab breakfast foods labna - a kind of yogurt cheese and foul stew (with a name like that it has to be good). It ended up being chickpeas and beans, tasty and not foul. Then we were off to the Museum of Islamic Art.
Did I mention that Qatar is hot?! 117 degrees hot. Qatar is also very clean and as Luci put it "everyone seems really put together". I really feel like the slob I am compared to everyone here. Everyone has been helpful and friendly, too.
We are now back at the airport (we need to wean off the a/c not go cold turkey.) waiting for 6 hours to get on our 6 hour flight to Singapore where we get to sleep in beds!
